“No you are not! You are sweet and wonderful and this is gonna happen for you.”

“Oh really? When? Do you wanna do it with me?”

“Okay.”

Chandler freezes, realizing what he just said. His brain screams, ”You idiot!” at him, and he realizes he’s said far too much.

This is Monica. His best friend. His friend’s sister. She’s off limits.

But damn if he didn’t mean that “Okay.” She may be overweight, but she’s still pretty, pretty in a way that the other four—three—all right, two women weren’t. And he likes her.

But from the way she’s looking at him like he’s nuts, he knows that she doesn’t feel the same way.

Which is why when Monica says, “I was kidding,” Chandler says, “So was I.”

It’s odd to use the phrase “not enough” when referring to a woman of Monica’s size, but that’s exactly the truth.

He can never get enough of Monica. He smiles when he opens the door to her apartment and says, “Let me tell you about this chick I scored with last night! Oh no wait a minute that was you!”

But his smile fades when she starts talking about Doctor Roger like last night didn’t mean anything to her.

It meant everything to him.

He can’t get enough of her, now that he’s had a taste. It’s bizarre, he never pictured himself with her until yesterday, and now it’s all he can think about.

So he calls Doctor Roger and says he has a ruptured spleen and then goes to pick up the pieces of Monica that Roger left behind.

And when he finally gathers his courage and says, “You should be with me,” and Monica kisses him, he realizes that even now, even when he has her, he’ll never get enough of her, and he thinks that maybe that’s all right because she always leaves him wanting one more bite of her delicious cous-cous.

The What Would’ve Happened Game isn’t much fun, Chandler thinks. He ends up a poor writer, living off of Joey’s money. Not only is he single, but he’s also practically a virgin. His What If turned out pretty badly, he thinks, so he’s glad that he didn’t quit his stupid boring job.

One thing doesn’t change though. He still falls for Monica, and maybe that means something.

Maybe it means that they’re meant to be together. Maybe it’s destiny. Maybe something in the stars says they were kismet.

Maybe that means that all the What Ifs in the world can’t keep them apart.

Chandler likes that thought. Maybe he came off okay in the What Would’ve Happened Game after all.
