Summary: The pain of war lies not in the injuries or in the destruction of the land. It lies instead in the mind.
( The visual was vaguely reminiscent of a picture his gran had once shown him of Hell. Bodies lying everywhere, some he recognized, some he didn’t. Trees burnt to the ground, fires still raging on parts of the field. )
