Title: What
Pairing(s): Dustin/Matt, Eric/Jamie, implied Eric/Dustin
Fandom: GRIND
Word Count: 310
Rating: I'd say PG-13
Warnings: Written in 2nd person.
Disclaimer: Warner Brothers owns them, not I.
You can see it happening. You’re not stupid, after all. You see the looks Dustin and Matt give each other…see the way they just sort of throw themselves at each other, fighting in the back of the van or rolling around on the only bed in your hotel room, constantly in contact. You can see your best friend slipping away, can see him disappearing into an abyss that you aren’t a part of.
The part that really kills you is that it’s a blissful abyss.
You haven’t seen him this happy since the day he first got a job at Chili-n-Such, the day that he realized he was going to be able to pay for college. Hell, he’s not even this happy when he skates.
You’re glad he’s happy, glad that he’s found someone who likes him. And it’s not like you haven’t always known he was gay. Maybe he never told you, but you always knew. You just figured that when he was ready to tell, you’d be the one he’d want and then you’d tell him thanks but no thanks.
Not that you want to be the one, of course. You’ve got Jamie now, and she’s blonde and she’s beautiful, and best of all, she’s a skater. She’s everything you could ever want in a girl, but the weird thing is, all you can do is wonder what Matt and Dustin are doing in the bathroom of Jimmy Wilson’s tour bus when they're supposed to be slipping him your demo tape.
Before Dustin and Matt started this, the van used to only rock when Sweet Lou had picked up a girl. Now, when it rocks, Sweet Lou is standing right next to you and you both stare at each other in a mixture of shock, awe, and in your case, horror.
You tell yourself that it’s because it’s Matt and Matt’s a royal fuck up, that he’s only going to break Dustin’s heart, that you’re just being a good friend, being protective of him, but deep down, you know it’s something else.
You just wish you could put your finger on what.

great line! His POV feels perfect too, and even though I've never seen Grind, I can just tell that it's IC.
This is very powerful, I like it a lot.
