Hermione got pregnant three years after they first got together. When she told them, Harry and Ron hugged her tight and immediately made plans for the baby’s room. When the Healer at St. Mungo’s looked at them strangely when both men insisted that they be in the room for the exam and refused to give her a straight answer on who the father was, they ignored her because they were happy. When the baby was born with Harry’s green eyes and Ron’s red hair, the Healer could not understand how it was possible.
Harry and Ron winked at Hermione, proud of their wife. She had always been the cleverest witch they knew, and only she would think to invent a way for three people to conceive a child.
After all, wasn’t necessity the mother of invention?

When they decided on adoption, a tiny piece of Monica’s heart broke. It was like accepting that she would never carry a child. She’d known that she couldn’t for awhile now, but deciding on adoption, that made it final. That piece of her heart went down the garbage disposal with last night’s leftovers, and she thought she’d never see it again.
When Erica and Jack were born, Monica’s heart soared and the moment she held them in her arms for the first time, she felt that piece that had broke off months ago click right back into place where it belonged.
They may not have her DNA, they may not have lived bodily inside of her, but the moment she looked into their eyes, they started to live in her heart. They were her children, and she’d never been prouder.

But once he had finished calling them and later writing his letter of complaint, the real point of the matter sunk in on him. He was going to be a father. Again. He was going to have two children.
And even underneath the dizzying, nervous excitement that came from being a father, Ross couldn’t help but think. The last time he’d had a child, it had been with his ex-wife and he barely got to see his son. He didn’t want that to happen with this baby.
The day that Rachel turned down his proposal, Ross thought he felt his heart breaking. It was like losing Rachel and the baby all in the same day.
The day that Rachel got off the plane and agreed to take him back, Ross’s heart soared. Emma was going to have a real daddy this time.
