Title: Love Isn't Blind
For:
ktprincesswitch
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Pairing: Willow/Tara
Rating: G
Word Count: 136
PROMPT: "Let Me Go" - 3 Doors Down
I dream ahead to what I hope for, and I turn my back on loving you. How can this love be a good thing?
Tara remembers reading once that love is blind. She hates to disagree with such age-old wisdom, because she’s always respected her history, both of Wicca and the rest of the world, but she actually believes the opposite.
Love isn’t blind. Love doesn’t hide a person’s weaknesses from you. It shows them to you, and then makes you not care.
It shows you everything.
So when Willow starts spiraling down into addiction, Tara sees it. She sees it, and she knows it, and she tries to stop it, but when she fails, when Willow messes with her mind, when everything is falling down around them, Tara has to choose whether or not to care.
Unfortunately, she does care. And caring is the option that leads her far away from Willow, right where she doesn’t want to be.

Date: 2007-07-05 11:04 am (UTC)I totally agree with you.
love is not blind.
because when you love someone, you MUST see him.
everything of him.
either way, is not love.
could be affection.
but definitely not love.
that's why, even if it hurts, I did the same thing Tara did when I couldn't pretend not to see how he was destroying himself.
I cared for him, I still do, and I probably always will.
The only thing that's left is the hope that someday he'll understand that I didn't give up on him because I didn't love him enough.
I decided to let him follow the path he chose for himself because I love him too much and I can't tolerate the fact that I wanted him to change for me.
Someday he'll change for himself, because he won't like what he sees anymore, and that day he'll know.
and we'll be together.
Thank you so much for this, I really needed to open up.
And, by the way, I love all of your stories...can I befriend you?
